Size guide
Every piece we make comes down to one number. Here is what each number means once it is in your hand.
Umbrellas are sized by the arc: the open canopy measured over the top, from the tip of one rib to the tip of the opposite one. Packs are sized by capacity in liters. Shoe horns are sized by their full length, handle included. Each card prints that number first, and the tables below turn it into who stays dry, what fits inside and whether you bend.
Umbrella canopy: who stays dry
An arc is longer than the flat width under it, because it follows the dome of the canopy. On our golf umbrellas a 51 inch arc is about 47 inches straight across, a 62 inch arc about 53, and a 68 inch arc about 57 (119, 135 and 146 centimeters as listed). These are the landmarks across our umbrellas.
| Arc of the canopy | Who it covers | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| 42 to 46 in | One person and a shoulder bag | A bag pocket or a glove box, folded |
| 51 to 54 in | One person and a carry golf bag | A stand bag tube |
| 62 in | Two adults walking close | A car trunk or a cart holder |
| 68 in | Two adults, or one and a cart bag | A cart holder |
| 72 to 80 in | Two adults with room to spare | A cart, a sideline, a stadium gate |
Pack capacity: what goes in
Liters are the volume inside the main and front compartments. Lay out what you carry before you choose; most of it is water and one extra layer.
| Capacity | What goes in | The day it is for |
|---|---|---|
| 10 L | A water bottle, a light layer, a phone and keys | A short walk, a museum, a theme park |
| 20 L | Water, lunch, a rain shell and a layer | A full day on foot or on a trail |
| 25 L | The same, plus a warm layer | A long day, cooler weather |
| 30 to 35 L | Food and water for two, two layers | A day when you carry for someone else |
Shoe horn length: how far you bend
A standing adult's fingertips hang somewhere near 25 to 30 inches off the floor, and a seated adult's nearer 16 to 23. That is the whole logic of the shoe horn shelf.
| Length | How you use it | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| 3.9 to 7.5 in | You bend down to the shoe | A pocket, a gym bag, a suitcase |
| 11.8 to 16.9 in | Seated on a low chair or bench | A shelf by the door |
| 22.8 in | Seated on a dining chair, or with a knee bend | A hook in the hallway |
| 28.5 to 31.5 in | Standing straight | A hook in the hallway |
Every size on this page is measured the same way as the one printed on each card in the ZOMAKE catalog.
